I created this parrot rigging project in my Character Rigging for Production class. It took me three weeks from the initial design to the final delivered rigged model. Firstly, I researched birds' skeletons and videos to figure out the wing movement and animation requirements. Then, I researched cartoony bird characters and developed the design of features and controls for the bird. I built joints and controls for the bird using FK systems, IK systems, deformers, constraints, driven keys, nodes connections, and blendshapes to implement the final rigging. I spent the rest of my last week working on the weight skinning painting and doing animation tests. I also imported the model to Unreal Engine and built control rigs for it so it can better support animators to work on animation in the engine. It will speed up the production and reduce the time going back forth from dcc software and engines.
